Georgetown might be known as the "Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas", but the Georgetown Visitors Center promises that Georgetown is anything but square! Located in the heart of Williamson County, Georgetown is the county seat of Williamson County; as so, it is the hub of county government. Less than 15 minutes from all of Williamson County's cities and bisected by Interstate 35, Georgetown is conveniently located in both Williamson County and Central Texas.

Georgetown has one of the lowest combined property tax rates in Central Texas, an excellent transportation system, a municipal airport and an extensive utility infrastructure. Georgetown’s outstanding quality of life is represented in the historic downtown area, outstanding parks and trails system, great schools and low crime rate.

Georgetown is becoming the new hot spot. In addition, Georgetown is home to Southwestern University, the oldest institute of higher education in the state of Texas, as well as home to Sun City, the largest Active Adult Retirement Community in Williamson County. Year after year, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce is the second largest Chamber in Central Texas (second only to Austin). With more than 11,000 students as their primary focus, the Georgetown Independent School District is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees. Each board member serves the entire community without compensation for a three year term of office. Elections are conducted annually in May.
